Surf Lessons
How good of a swimmer do you need to be to take surf lessons?
A: Can you swim? Can you float? If you checked both those off, you’re good to go. Our surfers ride the boards right up onto the shore so if you wipe out, you’re on sand instead of deep water.
Where are your surf lessons?
A: We hold our lessons in the shallower waters of Poipu Beach, directly in front of the Kiahuna Plantation. We meet for a quick land lesson in the grassy area between the two resorts. For a map, go here.
Which kind of surf lesson should I take?
A: If you’ve never surfer before or haven’t surfed in a long time, start with a beginner lesson. If you’ve taken a lesson before and want to challenge yourself a little more, start with an intermediate lesson.

A: You betcha! We teach people of all ages, sizes, hair color, and abilities.
Do I need to bring anything to the lesson?
A: Normally we’d say bring a hula skirt and a coconut top, but save that for the Luau. Swim suits, beach stuff, a smile, and a “go get ‘em!” attitude will suffice. Oh, and please don’t forget to slap on the SPF 30+ before you arrive…we don’t want to send you to the luau looking like a tomato.
What size boards do we learn on?
A: Our boards range from 7 ft to 10 ft, depending on how big the student is.

A: 15 minutes on the beach, teaching you the basics of standing up and the ocean. We then spend the rest of the time in the ocean. Total lesson time is 1.5 hours. You’ll be with the instructor for at least 1 hour and then you’ll enjoy some time to practice.
Do you rent boards?
A: Yes we do. Please ask at the beach for availability.
